SOCIETY ACT

CONSTITUTION

  1. The name of the Society is "The Virtual School Society".
  2. The purposes of the Society are:
    1. To enhance the educational achievement of students taking educational programs through distributed learning by:
      1. providing leadership in the development and delivery of educational programs provided through distributed learning,
      2. developing courses, standards, and delivery mechanisms suitable for distributed learning,
      3. conducting world class current research in distributed learning,
      4. providing programs to teachers to enhance their ability to teach through distributed learning,
      5. developing and maintaining a registration web site,
      6. providing services to students,
      7. providing advice about distributed learning to the Ministry of Education and school boards, and
      8. providing similar or related services as determined by the membership.
    2. To make British Columbia a recognized world leader in the delivery of educational programs through distributed learning.
    3. To enhance the use of distributed learning to make British Columbia the best educated and most literate jurisdiction in North America.
  3. The above purposes of the Society shall be carried out without purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other accretions to the Society shall be used for promoting its purposes, and all the above shall be carried on an exclusively charitable basis. This clause shall not be altered.
